Improper Conduct

Improper Conduct
ECSA plays a critical role in safeguarding the credibility and ethical foundation of the engineering profession in South Africa. ECSA operates under the authority of the Engineering Profession Act, 46 of 2000, as amended, focusing on addressing behaviours that deviate from prescribed ethical and professional standards applicable to Registered Persons.
The processes by the Council include the comprehensive investigation, fair adjudication, and systematic management of allegations of improper conduct. The outcomes of disciplinary hearings related to improper conduct are gazetted, providing clear precedents, and fostering an enhanced understanding of, and accountability to, professional obligations among Registered Persons.
ECSA promotes ethical practices through advisory notes, informative case studies, and targeted development initiatives. These efforts not only guide Registered Persons towards ethical compliance but also reinforce the trust and respect of the broader public and stakeholder community in the engineering profession.
Any individual who wishes to lodge a complaint of improper conduct against a Registered Person is required to complete the prescribed complaint affidavit.
Allegations, concerns,  reports, or related submissions concerning improper coduct must be directed to the Improper Conduct Business Unit at ecsa-ic@ecsa.co.za
