In a statement issued on 31 March 2026, ECSA responded to the incident, which occurred during breaktime on 26 March 2026 and resulted in at least one fatality and multiple injuries among learners.

ECSA has initiated an investigation into the structural failure. The Council said it is conducting site inspections and collaborating with the relevant authorities to establish the cause of the collapse. ECSA indicated that it will take the necessary regulatory steps

ECSA extended its condolences to those affected by the tragedy, which it described as deeply distressing
. The Council emphasised the critical importance of infrastructure safety, particularly in environments where children learn.
