The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) has published a correction notice relating to its Guideline Scope of Services and Professional Fees. Board Notice 849 of 2025, gazetted on 7 November 2025 in Government Gazette No. 53637, corrects an error that appeared in the earlier Government Gazette No. 52691, Vol. 719, dated 16 May 2025.
What the Guideline Scope of Services and Professional Fees Correction Addresses
The guideline sets out the Scope of Services and Tariff of Fees for persons registered in terms of the Engineering Profession Act, 46 of 2000. In the notice, ECSA advised registered persons and stakeholders that the gazetted document contained an error on the contents page.
Specifically, page 133, item 4.2.9 was incorrectly published as “Error Bookmark Not Defined.” The correct entry for item 4.2.9 is “Services provided partially or in stages.”
ECSA’s Apology and the Corrected Page
In its notice, ECSA stated: We regret this oversight and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience it may have caused.
The Council confirmed that the corrected version of page 133 should replace the erroneous version in the gazetted document.
The corrected contents section lists the affected items, including 4.2.9 “Services provided partially or in stages” and neighbouring entries covering electrical and mechanical engineering services, fees for additional services, time-based fees, and expenses and costs.
