The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) has placed its Chief Executive Officer on precautionary suspension with full pay, pending an investigation into allegations of misconduct. The suspension took effect from Friday, 11 June 2021.
Reason for the precautionary suspension
ECSA said the precautionary suspension of the CEO is to maintain the integrity of the Council whilst investigations are conducted.
Once the recommendations of the final report are concluded, the Council will consider them and make its final decision.
Acting CEO appointed
In the interim, Mr Gerald Boitumelo Mokgoro has been appointed as Acting CEO to take over the day-to-day operations of ECSA with immediate effect. The Council and management team said they are committed to ensuring business continuity that underpins the continuous performance of the organisation.
