The Engineering Council of
South Africa (ECSA) had embarked on a transformation journey to enhance its
service offerings to all registered persons. This transformation included
migrating to an online system. Regrettably the transition hasn’t been as
seamless as anticipated and we have experienced a fair share of challenges. We
would like to provide an update on common complaints and queries that we’ve
been receiving since the introduction of the new system.
The migration and integration
to online system has affected mostly our registration application turnaround
times in the past few months. We have technicians on site working around the
clock to attend to this matter to ensure that we revert back to the original
turnaround time of; Candidates applications being processed in one week and two
months for a Professional registration.
With this new system there is a
change in the “look and feel” of our certificates; security features have been
added to minimize fraudulent certificates from circulating. Going forward,
every certificate will have its own unique bar code to avoid fraudulent
Lastly, our Continuous
Professional Development (CPD) page on the website is deactivated due to the
upgrading of the CPD portal to improve functionality and accessibility of the
page. The improved version of the CPD portal will be launched on the 1st of
Any CPD activities that need to
be recorded before the launch date can be done manually on an ECPD1 form
(obtainable from the ECSA website) and submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org for processing.
As with the old portal;
registered persons will be notified on an annual basis when they are required
to provide information or evidence of their CPD portfolio. This information
will then need to be submitted via the secured portal. This portal will provide
direct access to a registered persons CPD portfolio.
We deeply value your loyalty to
the Council and are committed to providing you with the highest level of
service. We are working tirelessly to close all the existing loop holes on the
system to restore the service that our registered persons and new applicants
deserve. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Should you have any further
questions or comments regarding this matter, please feel free to discuss it
