Due to the low throughput rate in undergraduate programmes and the
resulting shortage of graduates in the country, the Council on Higher
Education (CHE) convened a task team in 2012, to undertake a review of
the undergraduate curriculum structure and to further investigate the
implications of potential curriculum restructuring.
To that end
the task team proposed the introduction of an extended and flexible
curriculum structure for undergraduate education in South Africa. The
report has been released for public comment and based on the feedback
that is received the CHE will advise the Minister of Higher Education
& Training regarding the feasibility and implementation of an
extended curriculum structure.
All interested ECSA stakeholders are therefore invited to forward comments to the Manager: Education, Mrs Samantha Naidoo, Samantha@ecsa.co.za
, by COB on Wednesday, 20 November 2013.
