ECSA launches a new Fraud and Ethics Hotline

The Engineering Council of South Africa launched a new fraud and ethics hotline “Vuvuzela”. Vuvuzela is a whistleblowing and reporting system through which any person may anonymously report instances of fraud and corruption by employees, Council members and external persons including service providers, as a need for proper reporting procedures in terms of the Protected Disclosures Act 26 of 2000.

The system’s benefits amongst others include increased detection and prevention of internal & external fraud, centralized fraud reporting & investigation co-ordination, and proactive compliance with institution charters, fraud policies & governing laws.
